We Are Human Beings, Not Just Humans Doing

I must confess that it is easy for me to get wrapped up in what I am doing and not concentrate on how I am being.

Our personal integrity is of great value. Who you are is so much more important than what you do.

Over the years, I have had jobs ranging from delivery boy to Input Output Tech of one of America’s largest banks. I have rubbed elbows with ditch diggers and V.P.s of banks. One thing that has always kept me focused has been the following verses:

Eph 6:5  Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;

Eph 6:6  Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;

Eph 6:7  With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:

Eph 6:8  Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.

Eph 6:9  And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.

This passage of Scripture emphasizes who we should be more than what we should be doing.

Who you are will determine how good you are at what you do. A person of integrity will find themselves excelling at almost anything they do. It is a reality: if you do what you do to please Jesus, He will help you do it right.

Be right with God, and do your job based upon who you are. It is more important to be a person of integrity than for people to think you are a person of integrity.

As a very young pastor, the Holy Ghost gripped my heart with this prayer: ‘Father, I ask that Your power be upon my life even if no one ever notices it. I ask for Your hand upon my life even if I never notice it.’

I encourage you – be more concerned about who you are than what you do.

    So true! It took most of my life to really get a hold on this. Praise the Lord for the trials He allows us to go through to teach us how wrong our thinking is.

    I get SOOOO caught up in what people think.

    My favorite quotes from this post were… “Be right with God, and do your job based upon who you are. It is more important to be a person of integrity than for people to think you are a person of integrity.” and “Father, I ask that Your power be upon my life even if no one ever notices it. I ask for Your hand upon my life even if I never notice it.”

    What a great prayer. Thank you so much for these wonderful tidbits that you share with us.
